Democrat Lois Wolk is clearly the best choice. Wolk, a teacher who has spent two terms (sic) representing the 8th District in the Assembly, has proved herself to be an effective legislator.
She has shown flexibility, an ability to work across the aisle and a willingness to compromise when necessary. Assemblywoman Wolk is the best choice to represent Senate District 5.
Wolk has passed bills, has worked well with the governor and has developed a relationship with Darrell Steinberg, the next Senate president pro tem. Her knowledge and clout should serve the 5th Senate District well in coming years.
After reviewing both candidates, it's obvious that Lois Wolk is the best choice for the Senate District 5 seat. She is well-versed in issues important to the entire district, not just Solano and Yolo counties: The Delta, education, transportation, health and public safety.
But we think her expertise in water issues, education, transportation, health and public safety — and her accessibility to her constituents — would serve this district well.
Wolk has always had the reputation of someone who stays busy, engaged and gets things done. Her list of committee assignments is numerous and varied, from banking and finance, to natural resources and veteran affairs, biotechnology, domestic violence and others. ... We believe Lois Wolk is a wise choice to represent our community as senator from the 5th Senate District.
